Be Advised:  All current full-time law enforcement officers are exempt from training. However, credentials must be verified and fingerprinting is required. Fingerprinting is done through MorphoTrust - not at P.D.

Congratulations!!  I hope your career as a security officer has been memorable, exciting, and productive.  Hopefully, you are one of our returning students.  If not, we look forward to helping you every step of the way.  Whether you are in the process of renewing your SORA license, or if you are just gathering information for your future renewal status... you've come to the right place. 

As you are aware, you must renew your SORA license every 2 years in order to be in good standing with the state.  You may renew your license up to 90 days prior to your expiration date.  If you let your license expire, unfortunately, you will have to repeat the mandatory 24 hour SORA training course as if you were applying as a new applicant.  However, if your license is not expired, then you will only have to complete an 8 hour course in order to renew your license.  It's that simple!

Note: Please read the following instructions below for further detail.

It is important that you go to the New Jersey State Police website, please click on the State Police logo below to get started.  Once you are on the site, click on "Renewal Application" and enter your "Login ID" and "Password".  If you do not know your Login ID or Password, you can have it emailed to you.  Click on the logo provided to start the renewal process with the state police.

The cost to renew your license with the State Police is $83.55 + the cost of the renewal class of $259.  You must bring the following items to class: your original SORA ID Card, a government issued photo ID, and the NJSP renewal ID number.  You do not need to be fingerprinted again.  

The renewal course consists of an 8 hour course of instruction.  The class costs $259.00 + the state fee.  Sorry, no personal checks.
